I started putting corn cobs out to distract the squirrels from our feeder, and found that the squirrels never get a chance. The scrub jays pick them clean almost right away.

|  | On our drive from Kansas City to Kensingtion (across 2/3rds of Kansas) Amy and I caught a glimpse of what looked like a bald eagle, sitting on a fence. Amy said "was that what I think it was?" and I replied "turn around." When we got back, we found not just one bald eagle, but 10. Two adults, 8 immature ones, all within sight. I guess they don't get adult plumage for 4-5 years, so maybe this was a single pair and all their offspring from the last few years? |
